I know the role of NPs is different and often our training isn't recognized overseas. That being said, what I really want to do is work with a NGO, such as Doctors without Borders. I am a new grad NP just starting my first job. I plan on moving on in 3 years when my youngest graduates.
My background is float pool medical/surgical nursing and home health. I am currently working in nursing homes/rehab centers.
For US travel - what specialties/practice settings should I look at to get the most opportunities?
For NGOs - what specialties/practice settings should I look at to be most prepared? I am not interested in midwifery, however.
For International travel - Besides Puerto Rico, Guam, and the US Virgin Islands, where is a good place to travel/work?
Do you think it is worthwhile to get some post grad certificates in public health? USF offers an online program in Humanitarian assistance, disaster relief, etc.
