Specializes in CTICU.

Hey, I graduate may 24 from nursing school...finally! I got the job in CTICU. Now i need to study for the GRE. Any suggestions (books, online tools...etc)

Also, I'm looking for some classes to take. I'm wondering if a neuroscience class would be beneficial or a waste of time and $$.

The course catalog describes the class as this: HS 720. "Integration of

neuroanatomy and neurophysiology of the central

and peripheral nervous systems with human functional

abilities."

Let me know what u think

Specializes in Nurse Anesthetist.

Couldn't hurt, but won't necessarily help either. You can always use more education. It may not help you get into a Master's program for CRNA.

I would suggest that you learn your current job. Focus on ICU and the things you did not learn in school, because believe me, you did not learn all you need to know in school. Many things in our profession must be experienced. You have learned the basics so that you may "graduate" into learning much much more.

Besides, rest. Enjoy the wonder of taking care of human beings and all that can happen (good and Bad). Go see a movie, visit with friends. Read a book that has nothing to do with medicine. You've earned it.

CRNA school is NOTHING like your BSN/undergrad. You will have never worked so hard in your life in CRNA school. If you are not well rested and have learned more of the "hands-on" stuff you will never make it. Trust me.

Then, when you are truly ready, NEVER, NEVER, NEVER give up. It is worth it.
