I have worked at newnan hospital for almost 4 years now. I started my senior year in high school and worked there throughout college and just recently graduated from nursing school. I love the hospital. I work on the third floor where you have 2 sections . The main floor you generally will get about 6pts to one nurse and you will always have a tech. One thing that I have noticed by doing clinicals all over atlanta is its impt to know what your techs can and can not do. Well at newnan techs take vitals, baths, feed, dressing changes, put in and take out catheters, I&Os, take out int's. It is very helpful when your techs are trained to do more than just give a bath. On the other side of 3rd floor you will generally have about 4-5 pts for one nurse and like the other side you will always ahve a tech. Overall Newnan Hospital has great southern hospitality. The food is great in the cafeteria and pts for the most part go home with a smile on their face after telling the nurses how nice they were to them. I am one of the younger workers at the hospital so Im not sure what experienced nurses are making but as a new grad the pay rate for is around $19.00 plus shift diff if you choose to work nights. We are on 12 hour shifts. The area to me has gotten crowded over the years but I have lived here since there wasnt a super walmart! There is alot of shopping, nice resturants, and easy access to atlanta by I85. I think you would like it down here. So good luck in school and hope to see you soon.:) :nurse:
