I'm trying to figure out which type of nursing program that I should apply to. I wanted to get some of your thoughts on the two. Has anyome here taken or is currently enrolled in an accelerated BSN program. I was all siked about the accelerated program but my senses kicked in and I realized that it might be a bit much to handle.
Right now it's a toss up between an accelerated nursing program at either NYU, UNDMJ, Seton Hall, Rutgers, and Suny Downstate or a part time weekend only ASN program in Gwynedd Mercy College for BA/BS holders.
The program at Gwynedd Mercy College is a 2 year program and classes are only held on the weekends, which would allow to continue working.
The accelerated program would allow to complete school in 12-14 months as oppose to 2 years but I think it would be more stressful.
I'm confused :uhoh21: .
Can some of you share your experiences.

I made the decision to take the long road since I already have a BA. I took no science courses in college so it took me a year going part time to finish the prereqs to apply to any school. I am applying to two evening programs now and I am hoping to get the acceptance letter in the mail any day now. I know it is two years out of my life, but I need to continue working. It has been a great experience so far. If you have children, i would not recommend doing the accelerated BSN. It is better to be on the long path to and RN than not be be on t he road at all!

Hi! I'm having the same problem! There is a school by us that (once you finish the pre-requs) is only ONE year (4 semesters). If you include the pre-reques, I would be finished around the same time for the ADN or BSN programs. I have nurse friends that keep telling me not to waste time and to get the BSN since I want to get one anyway. However, I also am nervous that I wont be able to work while in the Accelerated program. Keep me posted if you have any good advice as will I!!
