Hi every one I am considering doing local travel assigments in AZ, but I am kinda scared to do it with the economy, and will I have work year around. currently I work in my hospitals in house benifited ICU pool, and my current hospital just was purchased by Banner health, they have there own travel company. should I make the jump? WHat do you think? thanks

i don't think there is concern for nurses to worry at all. healthcare is one industry that is not very affected by the economy.
I've seen and talked to the recruiter for banner health. Why don't you stick with them? I bet you could keep your pay and benefits and just get them to pay for your housing as well and go to AZ.

I live in AZ, I would like to try and stay in AZ by doing just local travel assignments with banner.
Well if you just want change of pace, but i don't think you will make more money, because even if they give you the housing money you have to pay taxes on it b/c you aren't really travelling away from home. So you would probably make more money just picking up per diem if that is your goal...

My advice: now is not the time to leave full time employment. Request a leave of absence, that way if the economy worsens--- my hospital in the valley has implemented a hire freeze--you have employment to fall back on, plus you can keep benefits during that leave. That's what I've done.
