New student going into nursing

Published

Hello, I just started my first year back as a new student at a community college, and my main goal is to go into nursing. However, I keep having doubts about myself that I may not be able to get all A's. I could probably be a B student but not A. Just wanted to write this down and see if anyone can shine a little guidance or share their experiences. Thank you.

that's awesome you're taking classes to go into nursing! I've been in nursing school for 2 semesters now, so I'm still taking all my general science courses......but I can tell you nursing school is a lot of pressure, (to get the grades is nerve racking and I even find myself counting every point) but you just need to step back sometimes and put things into perspective! Being a B student is solid and will get you places so don't even stress about that! Getting all A's is everyone's goal, but you need to make sure you're taking care of yourself- sleep, food, and human interaction are so important! My advice if you want to get all A's: flashcards, Quizlet, videos, and practice problems...when I take notes in my lectures, I take them in a "messy notebook" and then I transfer them into a notebook devoted to just that class- I find it helpful being organized and there's just something about hand written notes that make it easier to remember. I study as the semester goes along, and keep up with the material. That way when midterms roll around, I do a quick review since I have been studying every night (at least 30 minutes of looking at notes does the trick). And if I'm unsure about something I reach out to the professor right away! Seriously, community college is a great way to start out with nursing because it's so much less money than a private school- I' just not sure if this is your first time enrolling in college, or if you're back in college....so apologies if some of the advice sounds a little basic! you're going to be awesome and best of luck!
