Hey all, I'm pushing for a new specialty forum for Government/Industrial nursing. Site admins tell me that an interest generated by this post would certainly help in showing the need. SO, please speak up and let us know if you hold a Government or Industrial RN position, or are seeking the same and want a place to share with others of your ilk.

To help bracket the subject matter, I'm looking to hear from people who hold or seek positions as thus:

Security Clearance or diplomatic passport required.

Defense contractors such as Raytheon, EG&G, Halliburton and KBR.

Oil Rigs.

Shipboard/Infirmary.

Remote/Isolated areas such as the South Pole Station, Votkinsk, etc.

US jobs with government/military facilities like Tooele, NASA or similar.

Large industrial/commercial companies with private clinics, such as Boeing.

Any "sequestered" type positions with in/out time, not mentioned above.

Disaster, CDC, FEMA, Standby/Response teams.

RN's in Medic positions for defense contractors.

You get the idea, so please let me hear from you where ever you are.

Now this is definitely not your average nursing topic, I know.

With that in mind, please bear with me as I also outline what I'm NOT looking for.

Military personnel, Medics without RN degree, basic commercial travel nurses, VA nurses, Independent/aesthetic/legal nurses,

Volunteer nurses, anyone looking to tan or "see the world" via travel companies or cruise ships or the like, and average public hospital/health facility nurses.

So, if your RN job description includes such requirements as small arms qualification, a security clearance, ability to withstand prolonged periods of isolation, galley duty, snow removal, or forklift/heavy equipment operation, please speak up and let's get this forum going.

Thanks much!

Randy
