New to San Antonio--need some guidance

Published

Hi everyone,

I just graduated from an ADN program in Sacramento, CA on May 23rd.

My hubby was restationed here several months ago. So, here I am too.

I am awaiting notification from the CA BRN to take my NCLEX there and then become endorsed here.

In the meantime, I know absolutely nothing about the job market in San Antonio.

My favorite area of interest in school was the ICU. It was awesome and I did an extra rotation to get more experience.

Are there any hospitals that take entry level ICU nurses? Which hospitals have a reputation for a learning friendly environment?

Looking at the staffing and salary differences between CA and TX, I don't care about the $. I want to work in a caring, learning-friendly environment that I can plan on staying with for a long time.

I am also wanting to continue my education. Any info about the UTSA program or others would be good.

I read the sticky note about not slandering any institutions. So, if you would like to contact me outside the forum, that is very welcome.

BTW, I was telling my hubby today that I will need to practice fitting in here since everyone is so much nicer than I am used to.

Thanks for your help,

Stephanie

Hi Stephanie,

San Antonio is my home, so I can tell you alot about it:O) You can email me at [email protected] and I can give you some insight to some of the hospitals in town. There doesn't seem to be alot of activity on this board from nurses in S.A., but nevertheless I still check it :o)
