New RN going right to a Hospice admission nurse?

Specialties Hospice

Hello all! I've been a long time follower of the allnurses site but this is my first post.

I passed the NCLEX on the 13th of September :cat:. I have been filling out every application

I could to any positions I find that will take a new nurse or that doesn't require experience.

So one of those positions was to a hospice agency. I have been a CNA/HHA for about 12 years so I am pretty familiar with hospice and I have always thought I wanted a career in a long term setting verses a hospital setting.

So long story short the hospice agency called me today and while we were talking she said "you know with all your previous experience I think you would be a great addition to my admission team" she explained the job to me and while it does sound like a great fit based on my job history and where I want to end up in my career I reminded her I was a new grad and didn't think I have the experience for a job like this. She told me that she doesn't mind fully training if she found the right person for the job. We did set up a interview.

But I am still weary of if this is a appropriate job for a new grad RN?

Any thoughts???

Good day:

Hospice is one of those specialties that can often start fresh though x period of hospital experience offer some help (how much is very personal, and depends on the agency for whom you work). For admissions, learn the Medicare guidelines as well as LCD's for terminal illnesses. Learn what are appropriate diagnosis and conditions for hospice, and what's not. You can do it.
