New PN student from Shawnee OK

Specializes in Labor and Delivery.

Hi, fellow Oklahomans!! I'm a new member here and a new nursing student. I'm currently attending Gordon Cooper Technical Center in the Practical Nursing Program and will graduate in June 2005. I'm glad to see an Oklahoma board here, since I'm sure all of you will prove to be a valuable resource to me in the future.

I'm 34, and I have 3 daughters, ages 6, 6, and 5, and four step sons ages 21, 15, 13, and 9. I've lived in Shawnee for 2 years, having moved here from California in July of 2002.

I'm excited to be in nursing school finally...it's been a lifelong dream of mine. I know I'll eventually continue on to an RN program, but right now, my main focus is getting through this first phase.

I look forward to getting to know you all.

Hey Sonya

I live in Shawnee too, Are you finishing up the LPN program, or are you set for Fall 05? I"m trying to get into the Fall 05 program. I've did everything and I am waiting to hear form them on the interview slots, have you already had one? If so, should I be calling them? I was told that they would be contacting me, is that right. I am 30 years old w/ 5 children,

boys and 2 girls. We could be a good support system for one another, Hopefully.

Hey Just curious to all the ones in Shawnee. My sisters and parents just moved there in March and my one sister is about to deliver a baby due anytime. She'll be going to a hospital called Unity??? unsure of name Anyone have anything to say about this hospital??? Little worried being in Ohio and not being there for her. She's already a week late and since moving there the doctor has not even done a full exam on her??? So little curious how things work out there?! Any input would be greatly appreciated??

Thanks in advance

Tell your sister to ask for Dr. Sparkman, he is a saint and knows what he is doing. He is very attentive to his patient and lets you ask all the questions you feel needed. He has delivered 3 of my boys and if I had anymore I wouldn't ask for any one else. Not to mention that he saved my life with the 2nd one. With him I had placenta abrupta and we both were dying and with all the blood I lost I shouldn't be here. So when I tell you hes a saint, He is. I also felt very comfortable with the hospital, Its just as good as anywhere else. I hope I have help in some way. If you have any more questions feel free to ask. You can also PM me if you need to. Good luck to you and your sister. Bobbye :p
