New Peds Nurse

Specialties Pediatric

Published

Hello! I am a "recent grad" LPN (graduated about a year and a half ago), and I have accepted a position as *the* nurse in a new pediatrics office. The doctor has an assistant who is unable to give vaccines, etc., so I have been hired to take over vaccinations, most well child (and some sick child) initial assessments, telephone triage (which I've never done before...this MD knows that I only have pediatric knowledge from school practicals), ordering of medical supplies...basically, I will be there two and a half days a week to pick up a lot of the stuff that the MD has been doing for the past year she's been in practice on her own. I am fairly comfortable giving vaccines to adults, but have only ever given one to a child. I suppose I'll be re-upping this skill very quickly, yah? LOL

I would very greatly appreciate any "new nurse" charts, cheat sheets, suggestions, etc. Please email me, I start on Tuesday :D

TIA!
