new nurse graduate's concerns about Nclex

Published

Hi, Every one:

I just graduated from the RN nursing school. I will take Nclex in March. I am wondering if any one here knows the following question I am so concerned about.

1. If I fail the first Nclex-RN, how long should I wait to take the second one? And how long should I wait to take the third one if I fail the second one?

2. Is there a maximum time I can take Nclex-RN in Tennessee? x3 or x4 or x6 or unlimited? Where can I find the official information?

3. Is there a limited time frame to take the test? For example, should I take and pass the test in one year or two year or three years? If I cannot pass the test in a cerntain time, should i need to go back to school again? I am so scared about going back to nursing school again.

Thanks a lot!!

Relax! Don't set yourself up for failure before even taking the test. You said you just graduated and so you should be well prepared. The schools are in business to prepare their graduates well to sit and pass the test- high pass rates make them look better. Don't get too worked up and just do your best. I took the nclex the first year it was on the computer. We had just sold and moved into a new home 3 months before graduation, my son was 2 and my daughter was born via c-section 1 week before finals. I took the nclex a month after I graduated and frankly didn't have time to do a study course so I didn't. I freaked when the machine shut down (I don't know if they still do it this way) after 75 questions and less than 30 minutes- I was certain that I had failed, but I passed. Take it one step at a time. Again, don't set yourself up for failure. First take it. If by some freak chance you do fail, deal with all of your questions then.

Good luck!

Ann
