New NRP testing

I live in Missouri. We have started the new NRP computerized testing. Is our employer required to pay for the hours spent at home testing? It is impossible to do this while working with a full assignment. If you do not pass a section, it locks you out and there is a required payment to open up the program. Our employer wants us to pay this amount out of our pockets and then get reimbursed later. How is this being handled in other areas of the country? Thanks!

It is not uncommon for an employer to ask you to pay upfront then get reimbursed when the testing is completed. I have seen this handled many ways, and this is one. For the new testing, there are a certain amount of tests that are 'purchased" ahead and if you fail, the next text is taken from the pile (at least this is how our facility is doing it). If you keep retaking, you are taking tests others need. So, if you fail a test at our facility, you have to pay $12 for any subsequent testing out of pocket (not reimbursed). So, you get the first one without charge, anything after is on you.

Our NRP is handled the same way. I paid for it out of pocket and they reimbursed me. They even paid me for the hours (Maximum of 2 hours) it took to take it at home.

paying for you to take it from home is what I am really interested in. How is this done across the country? I thought legally speaking, your employer had to pay for certification required for your job-like CPR.
