New lpn student

Hi everyone I'm 18 yrs old & I've recently been accepted into a lpn program ( 11) months, it begins in 3 weeks I was wondering if anyone have any tips for me & can describe their experience in lpn school. I'm trying to see how I'm going to manage school, work and my 6 month old son 😏 I completed a trade in called medical office support ( which was pretty tough) , electrocardiogram tech in 2014 , and I've recently completed my cna course this year so I do have some basic knowledge with anatomy and physiology and other areas but I was still curious of what I'm in store for in the next couple of months 😊

I will tell you what I have noticed from my first semester and short few months. When I first started everything was great all in my class were nice it was like you felt a sense of being sorrounded by people wanting to do something with their life little did I realize everyone isn't this way some people in the class didn't care and ALOT of older students will drop out and I emphasize that because we now have 1 person left over 35 at first we had 10 half of our class is gone from the first day but when you look back at the end of the semester and realize you're one of the last few it makes you feel so accomplished and gives you that extra push you needed half way through the first semester saying that you can do this also the teachers all of them will be different but will have the same in common they will all try to come up with "great" nursing questions and when I say great questions I'm talking sometimes a question will have 2-3 right answers and your left to decipher what your teacher believes correct your gonna win some and lose some and sometimes the teachers will see your point of view and give credit sometimes you can flat out prove the teacher wrong on questions that say other wise in your book exams are hard is what I'm saying and usually the answer isn't cut and dry but if you spend hours before an exam understanding the information and I mean truly understanding it you will be ok and by the way I do love my teachers they are awesome and even their argumentative demeanor is fun! IF someone was to tell you I'm about to be a nurse today 10 years ago they would have got slapped probably and here I am today 5 classes away from achieving this and carrying on my moms occupation and proudly doing it even as a male I am proud to be a nurse or future nurse one more thing about school try to sit near the front and you will absorb more at least I felt that way try to go to a school that is easier I am going to a hard nursing school with 98% NCLEX pass rate anyone can study the NCLEX review and pass but can they make it out of school? I wrote this and will not go without giving you a scale on how hard nursing school is according to me I would rate it 7.8/10 so expect a challenge but don't let it scare you with people dropping out around you or you failing a test! Everyone fails a test! It's gonna be ok and you can do it just keep replaying you walking across that stage and getting pinned!

Thank you so much for the advice by the way congrats

I just graduated from a PN program in April. It is very challenging, but with good time management and study habits it is definitely doable! Your life pretty much becomes nursing school (at least mine did). Stay focused and prayful and you'll do just fine! ❤️ God bless!
