Hello all,
The last time I wrote on this site, I was preparing to take my NCLEX-PN. Well, I took it a few weeks ago and passed! Yay! However, I have learned that finding a job as a new nurse is no easy task. When I first started applying, I had thoughts like, "Well, I don't want to work there. I won't apply." Now, I am almost wanting to take any job! I've applied at doctor's offices, nursing homes, a prison (even though I definitely don't want to work there), and others. I really thought that I landed the job I interviewed for almost a week ago, but have not heard from them yet. I understand that a week to an employer does not seem like a long time, but to a job seeker, it's a lifetime. I'm eager to work and the more time that passes from finishing nursing school, the more I feel like I am forgetting what I learned! I feel like maybe I'm not smart enough to actually work or am not good enough and that's why I haven't been hired. If anyone has any suggestions on how to land a job and have more confidence, that would be great!
Thanks so much!

Where have your classmates been hired? Could they give you any leads?
Also politely follow up on the position you interviewed for. If you haven't already thanked them, do so now and reiterate your interest.
I also always recommend actually going out and meeting people at the hiring facilities. Depending on your area, applying online is like playing the lotto... probably won't pay out.
Never get down on yourself though. You finished school and passed the test. You can do this too! Good luck!
Thank you for your response and such kind words! I have been hired for a PRN position at an ALF. It's completely different than what I'm used to and I'm nervous! I just hope I can do well.
