New LPN...starting job tomorrow..how to make most of orientation?

Published

Hello! I am a new LPN, passed NCLEX on September 8th!! I have worked in a LTCF for 3 years as an aide, and tomorrow I begin my orientation as a nurse! I am both excited and NERVOUS! I am very happy to get to train at my facility because I already know the residents, the staff, and the building. But, I am NERVOUS!! I only get 4 days of training..doesnt seem like enough to me?? Any advice on making the most of my training would be fantastic!! Thank you!!

Bring a pen and paper, write down how each res takes there pills, and write any little weird "quirck" they may have. take notes on things you think arent important!! Request or hope the med nurse that trains you has been there "forever"!! And, again- take notes! They make great cheat sheets and will make your life so much easier as a LTC nurse!!!! Good luck and have a great day at work!!!!

Thank you!! I have day 2 tom..on a much busier unit..nervous again!!
