I just got my license at the beginning of the month, I have worked at a SNF and in a pediatric hospital as a CNA. As far as being a new LPN which would you recommend between a SNF and assisted living?

I have a few interviews lined up and so far the SNF and assisted living offers about the same pay and amount of hour (full-time) so that isn't an issue. I am mostly concerned about the patient to nurse ratio, where I would use my skills more, general atmosphere. I also know that all SNF are different and same with AL so I am just talking generally. I also have the chance to work at a hospital but the pay is about $3 less an hour and I am really looking to make as much as I can before I start an RN program in a year. Any advice is appreciated!!

I can only speak from my experience in LTC since I've never worked assisted living, I worked the "skilled nursing unit" which was skilled residents only my nurse to resident ratio depended on empty beds etc. but my unit had 21 beds and was full about 99% of the time I had two CNAs and I was the LPN for that unit and had to do admissions, discharges, Med pass, and skilled charting as well as your regular ABT, I&A charting etc. We had an in-house APRN Who would round and write new orders pretty much every day on weekdays and unfortunately on weekends we were also responsible for treatments and wound care on top of our regular duties since we only had a TX nurse during the week. It's a bit overwelming as a new grad but it did wonders for my time management skills. í ½í¸‚
