New L&D nurse has questions!

Published

Hi,

I'm a new grad starting off in L&D, I've been working now for about 4 months and I am still having a really hard time with lab values and how they relate to L&D. I was wondering if you could share some of your related knowledge or any "easy ways" to remember lab values or their uses. Alot of times I cannot find this information in lab books related specifically to L&D. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I would love some info on PIH labs and what specifically to look for and what normal values would be, D-Dimer ( how is this used), HELLP syndrome, anything you would like to share will be wonderful.

Our unit has a great book that talks about lab values specifically for labor and delivery. I find this a great resource even as a nurse with years of experience

Talk to your manager about getting one.

This sounds like a great idea. Could you tell me the name of the book you use, even if my manager isn't interested, I could buy it on my own. I really need something. I feel like lab values are my weakest point right now.
