    I tried to get a job as a unit secretary when I started my nursing clinicals and I also found it hard to get a job. After getting hired as a nurse, I found out from someone in HR that they don't like hiring nursing students because they ultimately know that it's a temporary person they're putting into that position and they like hiring more long-term rather than replacing unit secretaries every 1-2 years. In one way it make sense, but still.....

    Yeah NJNursing that does make sense. what positions would you recommend I look into or should I just wait and finish school? any advice would help, thanks

    If you're really adamant, I agree with the others - the squeaky wheel does eventually get greased and sometimes they just see so many applicants that it all blends together after a while. Keep pushing it if it's what you really want. You might be able to try part time at a doctor's office - keep looking in your local paper under the health jobs. A friend of mine worked at an OB/GYN office her last year of school and they were cool with working around her school/clinical schedule.
