I just got a job doing home health & I was wondering if anyone had any tips or suggestions. I've done PDN on & off for 3 years but never home health. So anything would be greatly appreciated! :)

My biggest tip is to make sure you are organized! I'm not sure how PDN works, but I've been doing HH for 2 1/2 years and I'm constantly drowning in paperwork. I see anywhere from 5-10 patients a day and between the visit notes, communication notes, MD orders, etc I never catch up! It's much easier if you're electronic vs paper generally speaking, but it's easy to forget you talked to a dr during the day about a pro time while driving between patients, and completed forget by the time you get home when you were told to re-check. Always keep a note pad in the car. When I'm waiting for a dr to call me back about something specific I tend to write it on my hand because they love to call when you're driving and you can't easily be shuffling through to double check the lab they need. If you love paperwork, then you'll love HH!

Ahhh! Hahah. Well it is electronic documentation & I won't be overloaded with patients so that's good. I'm just nervous, it seems soo different. I don't want to mess any "paperwork" up or do anything wrong. I'm use to being on my own with PDN but home health seems soo different. :/
