New Grad Residency in SoCal??

Published

I graduate in May of this year 2025 with an ADN from my cc.  I hear that it is becoming more and more difficult to land a new grad job let alone a residency program at a hospital.  Does anybody graduating with me have a plan or know any info on good spots to apply to? I am currently enrolled in a concurrent BSN program and I will obtain my BSN by december of this year, 2025 if it matters.  What is the plan for my fellow RN graduates this May here in socal LA/OC?

Not really. I was hoping to get some insight here but have not heard much.

Which app opens in June?

providence st. john's etc..

(nice catch haha def was for a diff thread)

Hi! so from my understanding, you should be applying to hospitals that are non magnet like dignity health Northridge or Glendale memorial as they have residency programs but do not seem to require a BSN. Sometimes the applications have mentioned that if hired you should obtain your BSN within 2 years of hire date, something like that. Which you are already working on. I work at Huntington hospital and there is a new hire who has an ADN but is not a new grad he has like 2 years experience and he enrolled in a BSN after being hired. And Huntington is a magnet hospital so maybe they are not so strict about it.

To my understanding magnet hospitals are allowed a certain allotment of ADNs but they tend to not hire ADNs as readily because they already have older ADN staff grandfathered in. But I know providence holy cross is a magnet hospital, and when I worked there it seemed like the majority of new grads were ADN.
