So I had an interview today for a new grad oncology position at a local teaching hospital. I just graduated in December and have been looking for the right job but never ever considered oncology before! The position I interviewed for cross trains you into 3 areas- medical oncology, surgical oncology, and bmt. And at the end of orientation you are able to apply for permanent positions on each of these floors or continue floating between them for up to one year. I felt I did really good on my interview, I followed up with a thank you email (is that corny?) and have a good connection on one of the floors which is how I actually got the interview. I feel my chances of getting the job are good but I'm nervous...is this float pool type nursing something I should worry about starting out in my career? Are these floors at all similar?
