New grad as an occupational nurse?

Nurses General Nursing

Hello everyone! I a new grad nurse who's been practicing for about 4-5 months and hate bedside nursing. The stress of this job I'm in is literally taking over my life. I never get out of bed, I cry nonstop, and my hair is even starting to fall out in clumps. I hate going to work and the thought of work gives me panic attacks. The stress is even starting to effect my home life, friends, and family. I was thinking about applying/looking for occupational/public health nursing jobs. Does anyone have personal experience with these fields of nursing? If so, advice/guidance would be much appreciated. I'm just feeling absolutely defeated right now :(

Not knowing you personally but just going off what you wrote, i would seek counseling first. Being stressed and unhappy at work is one thing... it's another having your hair fall out. I'd hate for you to be in another job and have the same thing happen, if there is something more is going on.

In general, though, I would avoid being in a position where youre the only nurse, as a new grad. Public health will probably allow you to work with fellow nurses more so than occupational health. It just takes off a lot of stress having that support. Good luck.
