Hi there! i am in Orlando and am a new grad I just took my boards on the 13 and passed. I went to one place and before i filled out the app I was hired they started me at 16.50 with a 1$ shift differential on3-11 and 2$ on weekends. I will have 20 pts. From what I have heard that is not bad. I have been a CNA for 5-6 years with 3 of those being at a major hospital they are only paying 12.83. There are many opportunities and after you take your boards you will have a whole new outlook. No matter what they say the hospitals may not want us(LPN/LVN)but there are many others that will appreciate us. Good luck and you too will reap the rewards of being a NURSE!!!!
Thank you for your response. I am actually starting a new CNA job at an LTC on weekends for a little extra money. I have never worked as a CNA. Any good pointers you can give me? Any

The only real advice I have is to always have your eyes and ears open. You can learn alot by just paying attention to whats going on. I have been working in the hospital while in schooL and it was very helpful. You can learn alot by just watching and asking questions. I am sure the LPNs there would be more than willing to explain some of the things they are doing . Always remember the only dumb question is the wone you don't ask. We are all life learners and no one person knows all except of course GOD. Good Luck!!!!!!!!!

Any one in the St.Petersburg area that knows what the average start pay for LTC. I originally considered working at a hospital but after my clinical rotation at one of the non Baycare facilities, I may change my mind. Lets just say much negativity and poor attitudes. Not that it wouldnt be that at a LTC. I have 4 months to go for my LPN and I want to have an idea of what my options are. Thanks for your input.
