New Grad with low GPA

Published

Hey! I'm from Texas and I've seen that some hospitals like Memorial Hermann, UT Southwestern, and Methodist want a 3.0 GPA and ask for transcripts. My GPA is a 2.7 right now because I failed one class during my first semester of nursing school. My school lets you retake it if it's just one class, so I did, and since then I've been getting mostly B's and some A's.

Even with that, it hasn't been enough to bring my GPA up. I still have one more semester left, and I think I can get it to a 2.9 or maybe even hit 3.0 by the end, but applications are already open and I don't graduate until August. I'm really worried this might hurt my chances. Do you know if those hospitals are super strict about the GPA requirement?

I'm not sure about UT southwestern, but those other hospitals aren't strict about GPA requirements. The only application that requested for an unofficial transcript was st.lukes.

I know some friends in the same situation, and if the application asked if the GPA was 3 or higher, they would just select yes.
