I recently moved to the Atlanta area after graduating in Dec 09. I have been in search for a job ever since then. I am gettting increasingly worried and discouraged. What is going on out here???? Any other new grads had such a difficult time of getting employed????

Where are you focusing your search? Apply to everything, even if it says 'experienced preferred'. Don't limit yourself to just the metro area, there are many hospitals outside the area and you may have to commute until you get some experience. Many hospitals hire through students' clinicals, so you are at a disadvantage, but keep looking and applying. Good luck.

W_melissalpn... After reading your reply, I decided to call Northside and ask a Nurse Recruiter if a new grad should apply to other positions other than "Intern" positions. She told me that new grads were to apply for ONLY intern positions as the rest were for nurses with at least 1 year nursing experience.
anom123456 and shannon_jones_rn... keep your eyes open for any openings for "intern, resident, nurse resident, RN resident" etc. A lot of the hospitals in the area have programs twice per year. I hope this helps and good luck to you.

Thanks to everyone that has responded with advice. I have been applying for any and everything that I can find (in the metro and surrounding areas). Hopefully, something will come to me soon.

I am a new grad too. I got my GA-RN license on Feb but I started looking for a job end of the month of June. Until now, I could not find a job. I'm here in Northeast side. I just had one job interview in a hospital but my application was on pending status because I am new grad and no experience yet. Most of the job positions I can see online are for "experienced RNs". I don't know if there are really for new grads. I'm a bit disappointed and hopeless of my job hunting.
@ladymarfee,
I'm in the same boat...but I did get a temp job at Mollen Immunization Clinic. They are willing to hire new grads try them!

Wow! That's great! I did send an application to Mollen Immunization Clinic but I have not received any reply yet. Did they call you for an interview or whatsoever or you called them to follow up your application. I think that job will start on September this year, right? I am interested to have that job.

Now I think I should stay in the Houston area for at least a year after I graduate before applying for Hospitals in Atlanta.
Sorry about your job search situation
