Hi all,
I have a job interview tomorrow for a maternity nursing position. This past spring, I had a 400 hr externship for my program on an LDRP unit. I loved it and was grateful for the opportunity and experience in this field as its ultimately what I want to get into. Now that I actually have a job interview I am so excited, but nervous none the less.
In April I received my NRP certification and in May, I took a week long course to become a certified lactation counselor (CLC). I still need to take basic EFM, but between NRP, CLC and then studying for my boards, that took a bit of a back seat. Luckily there are classes offered in my area here soon-but I wanted to also wait and see if I got any call backs for the maternity positions I was applying for.
I guess my question now is is there anything that I can expect on the interview? Other than discussion of how long orientation and being precepted will take, what other questions are good to ask?
Thank you in advance for any advice. I really appreciate it.

Congrats! The questions I was asked were about handling conflict between co-workers/MDs, what kind of personality I have, why L&D, just pretty basic stuff. I did get a senario question about a post c/s pt whose BP was dropping with tachypnea & tachycardia. They wanted to know the disease process (ie hypovolemic shock d/t internal bleeding) & what would I do.
I would ask about orientation length and does it include classroom time. Do you have the same preceptor during orientation. Are you or do you have to take call. Pt ratio for antepartum pt's (non active labor) & mag pt's. That's all I can think of right now! Good luck.
thanks Nicole!
