Hello Nurses!! I am a current senior and new to allnurses.com. This is my first post and I am wondering if there is anyone out there that works at cincinnatti childrens? They have a new grad internship program but I know nothing about the hospital so I am just wondering if it is a good, clean, fair enviroment. Some places do not treat their nurses well so if there is any advice from experience that could be offered I would appreciate it!

Excellent facility, very very clean..... fair??? Well that's subjective. I know nurses who wouldn't leave at gunpoint and a few that are leaving after just a year. I worked in a non-nursing position and none of us was treated fairly! The only reason most of us stuck around was in the FALSE belief that we would be hired on after graduation.
My suggestion is to call and visit the facility. There was a hiring freeze and even the internal PCA's HUC's etc. that signed a tuition agreement with the hospital couldn't get hired. The fiscal year is anew and they may be hiring again, new grad positions are HARD to come by there right now.
BEST WISHES for your senior year, I hope it flies by for you!!!! and let the rest of us know what you find out....

I second EVERYTHING she said above! Excellent facility...and I, too, have heard the "hiring freeze" buzz

:no:Hiring freeze? It sounds like all of Ohio hospitals are cutting back on hiring! It is very tight here in Columbus. No jobs in the hospital systems here. Nationwide Children's may not hire new grads at all in '09
I've heard that too about Nationwide. I spoke with Ohiohealth today... Have you tried Grant?
Britt,
What about Ohiohealth? Are they hiring new grads or anyone for that matter :wink2: I heard they are kind of slim on jobs too.
I applied for a Critical Care Fellowship and the recruiter called me back within 2 days or so. She just let me know the steps that I needed to take and just let me know some more things about the program. She said that New Grads can apply to any RN position and if that unit decided to hire them then they would be teamed up with a preceptor. The fellowship was the only thing that was posted specifically for new grads.
Hope this helped!
