New Grad GI Nursing

Published

Hey guys, new grad here. I have an interview upstate for a GI position. I would like to ask what type of patients you see on the unit. Do you get a lot of cdiff patients? I have never been on the floor before so I don't know

I can only speak for myself and state that the GI position in local hospitals in my area have nurses that are not necessarily "floor" nurses. You learn GI procedures, administer conscious sedation, do pre and post op assessments. This can be for regularly scheduled Colons/EGDs or more extensive procedures ERCP. This is not typically a "med/sug" position and you may not gain floor nursing knowledge.
