New Grad Advice

Published

Hey everyone! I recently graduated in June and have my RN. Still no job although I am looking. I currently in my first class at University of Phoenix, RN to BSN. I am worried about losing my skills or knowledge in the time of waiting. Anyone have any advice on how to stay up on everything? Also, charting has never been my strong suit. Any advice on books or anything to help with charting?

Welcome to the life of the unemployed new grad. I graduated in 2011 and have still yet to secure a job in this tough market.

Regarding the skills/knowledge, what I've read is to make sure your certs are up to date (BLS, ACLS, etc). Read/take CEU courses. Keep using your nursing textbooks from RN and now BSN school. As to the actual nursing skills, there are refresher courses that you can pay to attend.

Good luck!

I guess at the very least I know I am not alone. I am trying it is just very bleak out there. Thank you for the information, I really do appreciate it. My boyfriend will be entering into his second semester of ADN school so I can get some studying in with him. :)
