Hey everyone. Hope you're having a nice long Memorial Day Week-End. I am.... Anyways, I wanted to introduce myself, and ask a few questions, if that's O.K.?!!! First, I'm only 16 years old (10th Grade in High School), BUT I'm seriously looking at joining the military next year during my my Junior Year. I'm looking into Army and Air Force ROTC Nursing Program. I'm certain that I'm going to get my BS Degree in Nursing, but I just want to see what you think about my chances of getting a 4-Year ROTC Scholarship.

First, my current GPA is 3.5, but I'm sure this will go up next year, because my current downfall is Algebra II (B- & C). All the rest of my grades are much better (pretty much A's, including some AP/Honors Classes). Until age 14, I was a Level 9/10 gymnast (highest level except for Olympic Level) I trained/conditioned (VERY INTENSE, such as, about 30 between the legs press hand-stands, 250-300 sit-ups a week, etc.) for 20/22 hours a week for 5 years. I had to give this sport up though, because I grew much too tall (5'8"). I've been a Varsity Cheerleading w/some gymnastics for 2 years; I'm the Secretary/Treasurer for our school's Rotary Youth Leadership Association; and I'm in the Civli Air Patrol. So, what do you think? Do I have a chance? I do see a problem, though, with medical issues that I've had. On the ROTC Application (medical section), I have 11 things checked as "Yes". From what I see though, from the updated Military Regulations, I should be OK. I HOPE!!!!

Anyways, what do you think?

Thanks much,

I know nothing about ROTC except that you might want to contact the university you are interested in and ask to talk to their ROTC program. :)

Sounds like they'd welcome you.

Congratulations and good luck on your continued successes.
