I really like Robin Donohoe Dennison's Pass CCRN!. It is a CCRN review book but very informative regarding important info on ICU patients.
I do not own a drug book, but I like the Lexicomp's reference that we use on computer at my job. I have heard that the Lexicomp drug book is quite good, also.
Good luck!! You will learn so much!
One of the best resources I started out with and have updated year to year is the Checkmate Classic for Critical Care. It has a Apothecalc which will allow you to figure drips and such at your fingertips, it has sections on emergency drugs, all the new algorithyms, body surface areas, rhythms (strips), hemodynamic parameters, transvenous pacers, lab values, abg's , Vent modes, settings, neuro is covered, drip sheets are covered in it. It is a great book. You can actually view them in their online store http://www.nnccusa.com or call them @ 800-755-6901
Another good resource is a book called RN Expert Guides Cardiovascular Care put out by lippincott Williams and Wilkins ISBN-13:978-1-58255-704-5 through the LWW site online as well.
