New Career Search Help in Choosing My Path

Nurses Entrepreneurs

Updated:   Published

I'm currently an intensive care nurse and have been for the last 6 year or so. Currently, it's not serving me so I came to a long and difficult decision. I want to change my career completely.

Currently, I'm very interested in anything with the mind and healing. I love psychology and human behaviour. I love learning and growing, especially self-growth. Many people have said I am very good at analysing their problems and helping them with it. I spend most of my time willingly learning about personal development, mind, healing, psychology. It took a long time to find what I love and I'm glad. I'm just struggling with the career choice. I'm happy to go uni, study, anything. So my question is what career could these correlate to?

Hi, I would recommend looking into a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP). You would be able to build on an already strong skill set.  Especially during these challenging times, PMHNPs are needed in the community more than ever.  Best wishes!

I went on a Laser Hair Removal interview a few weeks ago. It seemed like an interesting position, where you have one on one time with the client for at least 20-45 minutes per session, and have the luxury of being able to really concentrate on that one person for their entire session.  The company is called Milan Laser Institute, and they have clinics all over the United States. They are vigorously hiring, it seems.  The pay is on the low-end of the scale, but there is that precious feeling of really getting to know each client, kind of as I might imagine hairdressers are able to do.  Also, there is more of a relaxed atmosphere, and not having to deal with constant crises, life and death, and upset/distraught family members.  I wound up turning down the opportunity, because the place was an hour each way from my house , and the pay was (in my humble opinion) too low. They pay one rate for all the RN's, whether you have been a nurse for one year or 20 years.  If you're interested in getting your foot in the door with cosmetic/aesthetic positions, this could be a great opportunity.  Hugs from Denver , G S.  RN/BSN/MS

Specializes in cosmetic medicine.

I agree with the other commenter that pursuing a specialty in Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner is one of the best courses of action. You can also consider cosmetic medicine as you also get to have a significant impact on the psycho-somatic state of the patient.
