New BSN grad and dialysis nursing

Is anyone out there aware of any hospitals or out patient clinics who teach new grads how to perform dialysis nursing?

Or would most employers insist on a nurse entering this specialization to have at least one year of med-surg experience?

Any insights, please. :-)

Most dialysis facilities have training programs that will teach you everything you will need to know. Up to six weeks Classroom, and then Floor Training after that. You should be fine, even with no med-surge experience. :)

Of course med-surge is ALWAYS a plus regardless, but seriously, you WILL be taught what you will need to know.

Thanks for answering my post!

Did you dialysis at an outpatient center? Or did you complete both outpatient and acute dialysis?
