Hello Everyone,

My husband will be transferring to Cincinnati in the December, As luck will have it I was just about to start an ADN program in the Spring, after waiting on a waitlist for 1 1/2 years. I have no idea how programs work there and just need some input as far as best schools, waitlists etc.... Any information would be SO appreciated.

And if anyone has any information for the best areas to live with young kids.. Schools etc.. That would be great!

Thank you in advance!!

Hi Kristen,

You will find the same thing here (waiting list) unless you go to the for profit nursing schools (like Galen for one). There are others, they are just much more expensive. Get on a few lists (at University of Cincinnati, and other colleges, and at some of the hospital's nursing schools "Christ Hospital" and "Good Samaritan". If you want an ADN, Cincinnati State would be fine. I am finishing up the LPN program there. As far as areas, we live on the East Side (Anderson Township/Forest Hills schools) and they are great. Let me know if you have ???'s Good luck!

Thanks! I did want to ask... Is the university's competitive to get in? Waitlists etc? and as far as Good Sam, Christ, and Cincinnatti State do they have wait-lists and how does thier programs work, do you have to work for them? Just wondering where I should even Start!? I don;t have a Great GPA., probably 3.0ish.... THanks for your Help!!

There are wait lists for all of the schools. Cincinnati State is very reasonably priced. Just go online and you can get information. I am just finishing up the LPN program (one term left, done in January). Since all Ohio colleges need to switch from quarters to semesters, I think that the next available LPN program won't be for a few months (and I'm sure a wait list, unless you want to go evenings). Just go online, then call to get information. I think the last I heard there was at least a year waiting list for the RN program, however you can get all your prerequisites in right away (don't have to wait for them), and then by the time you get your spot, you'll have much of the work done. University of Cincinnati (and there are a couple of campuses) is better, but more expensive. The good thing about them though is that you will end up with a BSN in nursing which I think gets you farther than an ADN (which you would get at Cincinnati State). You would be able to get into both places with your GPA no problems. If you want to spend a lot of money, there are the other schools (Galen, Fortiss, Hondros), but they are a lot more. I also don't think that they get the clinical placements that the other two I mentioned do. Also, Good Samaritan and Christ have reputable programs, but definitely a list. You should check with them to see if you can take classes in the meantime that could transfer. Not sure about that, but you can ask. This is a nice area to raise a family. Write to me at my Cinci State address: [email protected] because I don't check this often. I hope I can help you more :)
