New to the Agency World

Specialties Agency

Greeting fellow RN's!!

I've been working in a Birthing Center for about a year now, and would really love to explore my options in the world of agency nursing. The birthing center that I work in does antepartum, labor, delivery, recovery, postpartum, and newborn/high risk nursery, so I have experience in all, but my preference is the postpartum/mom and baby care. I live in Wisconsin, but am open to traveling to other states. Can anyone recommend an agency or offer some tips on how to get started?

Thanks so much!!!

I haven't done travel nursing but I have been doing local per diem contracts in southern california. My best suggestion to you is to throw your applications out to a few agencies that have postpartum positions and see which one you find to be the most friendly and accommodating. I have found that L&D jobs are pretty needed in the travel world. Good Luck!

Hi Ruth,

I am also in SoCal (Los Angeles) and wanting to explore agency nursing (OR positions). Are there specific agencies that you can recommend? Thanks for any thoughts, I don't know anyone personally who has agency experience.

Allstar nursing and ProCare one are good. Procare has been great with me as far as customer service but I am realizing that they don't pay as well. I just started working with Allstate nursing and they are great as well. I'm just searching agencies that work and are grounded mainly in SoCal. These were the two I have found so far.
