Networking Opportunities for Nursing Students

Published

Hello, young pre-nursing student from Richmond, VA here! I was just wondering if anybody knows about any organizations that undergrad/graduate nursing students can join to network? I've heard of the Virginia Nurses Association but their dues are costly and it doesn't have any prerequisites for joining so i don't even know if i would be a viable candidate. If anyone knows of any groups that are great to join for networking purposes, please share here :) Thank you very much I appreciate it !

Try looking up organizations related to specialties you may be interested in, e.g. Emergency Nursing Association, Society of Pediatric Nurses, etc. Most organizations offer a reduced-fee student membership and you may have a local chapter nearby. As a student member you generally do not have voting privileges but you are able to attend meetings, seminars and conventions, which are all great networking opportunities. A pretty comprehensive list of organizations can be found at http://www.theagapecenter.com/Organizations/Nursing.htm.

Another thing you may want to do is subscribe to the ANA website as a student. It may not be as helpful for networking purposes, but you will have access to a lot of information to keep you up on what's going on in the world of nursing. You'll also have access to a lot of resources that may help you in writing papers and researching topics in school. Besides that, it's free....just e-mail your name, school, and current year in school to [email protected] and a promo code will be sent immediately to you via email.
