NET score of 80, retake exam for GSU accelerated program?

Published

I just got my NET score back and I scored 83% on the math section, 76% on the reading comprehension, and 79% on written expression, with a composite score of 80%.

The average scores of those accepted into the GSU Accelerated program last fall was 84% NET and 3.60 GPA (prereq)

I am finishing up a lot of my prerequisites this semester (A&P2, Microbio, Stats, AbPsych, Intercultural Communication, and Life-Span Development). I have a previous degree in chemical engineering. However, I'm worried that with so few of the prerequisites completed at the time of application that the NET will play a bigger role.

Just looking for thoughts and experiences.

Thanks!

My daughter has just begun the program. She had a 94 net and a 3.7 7 program gpa

I would retake it. The study guide for it is AWESOME and I highly recommend it. I am all about retaking tests to get the highest possible score. I would go ahead and apply if deadline is an issue. But if you have time before the deadline, retake it! It will only help you.

My friend who is a GSU accelerated BSN student took the NET and bombed it with like a 60% composite. He registered to take it again the next week and scored above 80% composite ( I cant remember off hand what it was exactly). He was accepted to the accelerated program with the grade from the second attempt.

With his advice I registered for 2 tests. The study guide helped but, nothing like the REAL thing. On test day I was full of anxiety. This test was to determine when I started Nursing school. I took the first test and made a 71% composite. THANK GOD I registered for 2 attempts. The second time I was ready!!! I made an 86% composite.

My suggestion to you is to take it twice or how ever many it takes. GSU wants the date of the best score!!! Good luck................

P.S...........it was the same exact test both times. for me and my friend

Thanks, everyone! I went ahead and signed up to retake it. It can only help :)

Hi bdanders,

Do you intend to apply for the Fall 2010 program? If so, are you aware that GSU would no longer require the NET, rather TEAS would be the new entrance test. http://chhs.gsu.edu/nursing/entrance.asp

Good luck!

I'm applying for the spring 2010 program. If I don't get accepted then I'll have to take the TEAS. Hopefully that won't be necessary. :)

Thanks for the advice everyone. I just got my NET results back. Soooo glad I retook it, I got a 93 composite and aced the math section! woo hoo! let's just hope my 3.5 is good enough to get me in to GSU's ACE program :)
