I always start with some nursing dx. That scenario doesn't give you much information on what's going on with the patient, so you'll need to make some educated guesses. What sorts of problems does a 32-weeker tend to have (this will give you some possible nursing dx)? How would you assess them? How would you address them? And check to see if your interventions are working?

And if the pt is stable, then don't forget that psychosocial can even be important at this age, so encourage parental interaction with infant if appropriate!

A 32 weeker is considered premature and will have immature organ systems. Your care plan should ideally address: Respiratory, Cardio, Temp Regulation, CNS, Nutrition, Infection prevention, Skin care, Developmental care and family support. These things you'll need to look up and learn more about them.

Some examples of diagnoses would be things like Ineffective breathing pattern, Ineffective thermoregulation, Risk for infection, Anxiety, etc.

Let us know what you have so far, and we can help you from there. Good luck!
