Hello everyone! I am currently enrolled in two separate programs; an accelerated BSN program for those with previous Bachelor degrees and a graduate program in Adult and Community Education. I am conducting research for my graduate degree in continuing education requirements and nursing care. If you would PLEASE answer the following questions, you would be of a huge help to me.
Many thanks in advance.
Derek
1. In what state do you practice nursing?
2. Does your state require Continuing Education Credits for licensing renewal?
3. If YES, how many credits are needed? (Ex. 30 hours every 2 years)?
4. If NO, do you participate in continuing education seminars or read any evidence-based research articles for personal or professional developmental purposes? (If your answer is NO, thank-you for your participation in the survey. You may end your survey at this point.)
5. What is your current (in the last two years) specialty?
6. Please list the Continuing Education courses in which you have participated in the last three years:
7. Do you find the continuing education courses helpful?
8. Are the course objectives explained prior to the start of the course? In other words, does the instructor tell you what you will have learned after taking her/his course?
9. If yes, are the course objectives followed during the course?
10. Do you think by participating in a continuing education course, your ability to give good nursing care has improved or made no difference in the care given?
11. While taking or participating in continuing education courses/seminars, do you believe the delivery methods, content, and evaluation methods are appropriate? If no, please explain.
12. In you honest opinion, should every state be mandated to complete a minimum number of continuing education hours for license renewal? If yes, why?
