Hi everyone,
For a college English research paper that has an assignment of "real" vs. "perception", I chose the career field research of NICU nursing vs. perceptions of the field. Part of my research will include journal articles from professional journals, and part of it will include interviews.
I'd like to hear your perceptions of the field prior to working in a NICU, and the realities of working in it. Do you think the field is highly under-rated? Did you think it was under-rated before you started working in the field? Did you think working in a NICU would be easier than it is? Harder? What about large hospitals (IE; Stanford Childrens) vs. small-town (under 200 beds) hospitals?
Also, I'm most definitely interested in hearing from non-NICU nurses about your perceptions of working in a NICU vs. any other part of a hospital (especially if your ultimate goal is to get a NICU job). Do you think it is an easier field, harder, about the same when compared to any other specialty (such as pediatrics, oncology, etc?)
Post here or shoot me an e-mail, [email protected]
I appreciate any insight. Thank You so much.
