Are there any Navy nurses out there that would be willing to answer a few (or more than a few) questions about becoming a navy nurse? I'm a student (and almost done thank goodness), and I was really thinking about joining the Navy. I heard they will pay some student loans, but only Federal ones (not alternative loans), and I heard there were a bunch of special requirements to qualify for loan repayment and that officers don't qualify. Also, do navy nurses have to go through bootcamp? Also, this may come out the wrong way, but is a military salary going to be enough for me if I graduate with almost 80 thou in loans?

they do not have a loan repayment at this time, there are sign on bonuses and other options depending on what program you chose to join as, NCP and so on. Best bet is to contact your local recruiter, they will fill you in on the details and direct you to a local medical program recruiter, they will also arrange for a visit at a naval hospital where you will have a change to talk to many Navy nurses.
if I can give you any more assistance please let me know
good luck
