This might be a little long... But here goes.
We were testing off on lab skills this past week. Very basic stuff, moving the patient, assisting the patient, bad baths, etc. The professors had asked that the students who were first in the test offs stay behind and be the "patients." So when I went in, this girl, Sammy (not real name), was my patient.
I was demonstrating restraints on her and I was talking myself (and her) through it the whole time. When I came to the part of checking for CMS, she very curtly asked me, "What's CMS?" Not in the way where she didn't know what it was. She was trying to test my knowledge in front of the professor. I answered her question and went on about everything, but I was quite appalled.
Why in the world would you want to make your fellow students' test off any harder? I love all the women in my class. We work together and look after one another. Are generally concerned about one another. And the few I have told this too seem to agree with me that Sammy was out of line.
I brushed in off, but then she did something similar in clinicals to a different woman this time. To put this one short, she basically "tattle-taled" about a mistake this woman made (which really wasn't a big deal- the mistake that is) and was just desperately trying to put this woman down.
Do any of you (or have any of you) experienced someone like this in their classes? I want to try and approach her diplomatically about her behavior. Any suggestions? Sorry sooo long! It's just really making me angry!!

Blow it off. You are there to learn all you can and graduate.
Those types of people will hang themselves eventually.
There are bigger fish to fry in nursing school, trust me.

I know you're right but it's so frustrating dealing with those people.

We did check-offs this week also. My own lab partner friendly quizzed me in front of the instructor as I was bathing, bed-making, performing ROM, and positioning her. It really didn't bother me because a patient could genuinely ask me questions when performing these exercises. I know fellow students will try to quiz others in front of instructors to "make them look bad" or whatever. My solution to this is know my materials frontwards and backwards. I am not in nursing school to make friends, but I am also careful not to be "labeled" by fellow students or instructors. I actually heard one student (40ish) make a comment that one of the "little girls" (19-20ish) did not "deserve" to be in the program. Excuse me?? She is getting an immediate start in her education - something we all should admire. And, she had to meet the same qualifications as others. I wish I would have done this straight out of high school
