Need some overall advice and the Jacksonville job market

Hello all! My specific inquiry here pertains to my wife who will finish her BSN in a few months and is looking to start a FNP or ACNP program in January 2015. She's been a RN now for almost 10 years and should have no problem getting into grad school. We live in Colorado presently and have plans to move to north Florida eventually. She will need to give her current hospital 2 more years of employment upon completion of her BSN though because they paid for it and that was their stipulation.

Our dilemma at the moment is what course of action is best for her. She can start a FNP program in January 2015 and be done in 2 years. Doing this in Colorado will make things a bit easier as she shouldn't have any problem finding preceptors and her current job is pretty flexible with her schedule. Plus we have 2 little ones running around and have a pretty good daycare setup. Our concern with this route is that when she's done how difficult will it be for her to find a job in the Jacksonville area. Specifically we would be able to go to Fernandina Beach with my job and ideally that is where we would like to be. We read a lot about a pretty tight market in Florida but it almost always seems to pertain to south Florida. There doesn't seem to be too much info on Jacksonville and the job market there. She thinks that here in CO upon completion of a practitioner program she would get multiple offers for employment just from her previous work history and contacts. Obviously being a new grad and moving to a new state she would have zero contacts. How difficult would it then be for her to find a job?

The other course of action that she is considering is putting off the FNP program for a few years. This would then allow us to move to FL, have her get an RN job and start building contacts before starting grad school.

Does anyone here have any info on Fernandina at all? I know it's a small community with a small hospital and may be pretty difficult to get employed there in her situation. We are pretty familiar with Jacksonville also, and although we would rather be in Fernandina, Jax is certainly an option if that may be the only place she can get a job. What would you guys do in our situation? If more info is needed I can have her answer or get that info from her. At this point I'm more concerned about her spending all this time and money on this program and coming away not using it then she is.

Thank you all for your time and information!!

I'm not familiar with the fernindina area, as I live in West Jax. BSN nurses do not have odors finding a job. Baptist is the largest medical organization and is a magnet hospital. The pay here sucks though. I came from KY making $19÷hr ad an lpn, and adf a brand new asn RN I was ported $22.50 with 6yrs lpn experience. Once I got my BSN I made about $28÷hr. NP markert is Pretty good

. Ho me health is Good aying here too.
