Need info on Galen School of Nursing admissions process

Hello,

I was just wondering if anyone who's already gone thru the admission process at Galen knows how hard is to get in once you pass the CPAt... How does it work? What's the selection criteria? I took my CPAt yesterday, but have to wait until the end of the month to find out whether I got accepted! :coollook:

Thanks in advance for your help/info.

if you passed the cPAT, you'll be accepted. that school is only looking for money to line their pockets. nothing against the students there, but i was accepted and had to decline because i did not qualify for financial aid. if you can qualify for financial aid, you'll be in their next class -- guaranteed! that is how the school operates ....money making, rather than teaching IMO. since i didn't qualify for financial aid, they wanted $1500 cash - upfront to begin the process ..... i said, thanks, but no thanks and never went back again.

hoping to get in the august LPN program at pTEC -- and for a lot less money too! about $5,000, compared to the $18,000 for the same training at Galen .... to me, it's a no brainer. but do what you have to do .... for me, i'd rather wait and save money, than owe more than i can afford in student loans.

good luck to you :yeah:

Did you end up applying for the day class or online class at ptec for august?

i only applied to the august online class. there were more than 40 applicants. i asked that the day before the deadline, so i'm not sure the exact number. they only chose 24 for the online class though, which doesn't give you great odds for getting in.

how many points do you have and how did you do on the TEAS?

i applied for the august day class, and at the orientation they said they planned on accepting 50 students..

I was shocked the on line class only took 24, I thought they would accept far more..

Anyhow on the point structure I think i had 4 ponts and I got a 74% on my TEAS, so my chances probably aren't the best but im hoping it's enough. If not Im going to retake the TEAS and give the October class a shot, at the clearwater campus.

I also considered Galen, but I can't get over the cost. I guess it is a private school and all, but still! Trust me, I highly value my education, but I also need to be able to live and support my family.

I am still stuck on the cost though....YIKES!!!

i'm sure they took a lot less to have a more manageable class :D more so because it is still in the beginning stage, so they need to be sure they have a good pass/fail rate as well.
