Need help/information from my fellow nurses

Greetings everyone,

I need to make a change in where I work. I currently work in a Emergency Department in Washington State but it is a very toxic environment to be in.

I enjoy ER nursing when I am dealing with truly ill or trauma patients. I would like to work where I have a good deal of truly sick/injured patients in an environment that is healthy i.e. no primadona dr.'s, good teamwork, positive atmosphere and people who are responcible for themselves. And one where the mission statement is truly held up as an example not just words that the staff read and laugh at because the institution sure doesn't seem to make decisions based on their mission statement.

Is there a facility out there in Washington like this? Or am I looking for something that's not real in ER nursing?

I have been an ER nurse for 5 years-2 in a rural setting, and 3 years in a level 3 ER. I also have Med/Surg, Labor and Delivery and Charge nurse experience.

If anyone is working in Washington State that knows of a good ER to work in, could you please reply? I really need some guidance and your experience would be great!

Thank you so much,

alwayslearnin

diane227,

Thank you so much for taking the time to post with the information. Do you work there? I did put my application last week so, I will see if anything happens. I don't know if they are hiring now or on a freeze, but I do know one thing-nothing happens if I don't try.

Again, thank you for taking the time to post. I was starting to get a little discouraged because I only recieved the one responce and it wasn't really encouraging-lol

I don't work there but my husband does. He works in the Neuro ICU and he really likes it. They are so busy there, they have to have team work.
