My fiance just got a job @ Loma Linda University Medical Center in California. I'm currently a traveler in NYC and would like to make the move to the west coast. ANyone know anything about California...specifically Redlands(???), California? Thank you for any advice and suggestions in advance!:wink2:

Specializes in OR.

I'm familiar with Loma Linda University Medical Center, as I have friends who went to their school and also work at the hospital. I did hear that it's a good place to work at, especially for children's heart transplants and cancer research/work. But I also heard that they're low paying.

The city of Redlands neighbors Loma Linda, so it's not much of a drive to and from the hospital. It's in the county of San Bernardino, not LA, and is a good 1 1/2 to 2 hours east of LA, depending on that darn traffic :uhoh3: I hear it's often smoggy there, especially in the summer and it's hot in the summer. It's pretty dry there, lots of open, brown land and mountains. To enjoy "city" life, the closest city with action would probably be Ontario--big mall/shopping, outlets, theaters, eating--not that there's any of that in LL. It's just not LA, if you're looking for that kind of a scene. Other than that, the beach is an hour away and Lake Arrowhead and other mountainey things are close by. Housing should be cheap in that area. Hope this helps...:typing
