I need advice. I am relatively need to L&D having previously worked in ICU for 8 years. I needed a change and thought I would enjoy this new specialty. I'm not sure if I'm nervous and that's preventing me from enjoying it, but I just don't really like it. I have heard you either love it or hate it and no in between-is this true? I feel like a new nurse which is hard for me coming from place where I was comfortable. I was trained for 12 weeks and feel obligated to repay that by working here for at least 6 months or so. I don't know if I can do it though. I am also a per diem and only get 1 shift a week or less now since coming off orientation. I feel I'll never be comfortable which such long gaps between shifts. Plus its nights and I haven't worked nights in years. I hope I didn't make a huge mistake leaving my day job in ICU. Sorry for ranting. Just wanted to know if these are normal feelings to be having during this transition? Do you think I'll feel differently as time goes by, or should I just quit. Thanks for your replies
