You are in a difficult situation indeed. For most nursing jobs, a new grad will require several weeks (or months) or orientation in order to function independently. Orientations cost the employer a great deal of money to provide -- and any one who provides you with a good orientation will want you to work long enough for them to make that investment worthwhile.
You may be faced with having to choose between:
1. lying about your intentions (taking a job saying that you plan to stay and then lying when you resign) -- which is unethical
2. taking a job in a place so desperate for staff that they don't care -- which is probably a terrible place to work
3. delaying your entry into the nursing job market until you are ready to make a longer-term committment so that you can get your career off to a good start.
Personally, I would prefer the third option above and seek a job that would probably not utilize much of my nursing education -- but would provide a little temporary income until I was ready to start my nursing career off right.
Another option might be with a company that supplies private duty nursing and home health aids. They might have a case that would not require sophisticated nursing skills (more like sophisticated baby-sitting) for which you would be suited.
As I don't live in your area, I am not aware of specific employers near you -- but I wish you the best of luck.
I was browsing craigslist and saw some 13-week nursing contracts in the Baltimore area. I found them under the part-time jobs section, and the title of the post is: Needed: Med Surge, ICU, Tele, ER, RNs now!!!!
They seem to be 3 12-hour shift deals and pay ranges from $40-$48/hr.
I didn't want to copy and paste the whole post, but if you have trouble finding it, let me know. The post was placed on 7/27.
Good luck.
