Hello Nurses,

Looking for some info for a possible move to Tampa area. Currently working in Virginia Beach. I do not think the pay here is competitive at all and the prices of houses are ridiculous. My base pay is $21.50 after 4 years. I work nights and my shift diff is very good. but from what I have been reading, the pay in FL is better??? Have also read to stay away from HCA. Can anyone tell me if Tampa Gen, Morton Plant and Bayfront in St Pete's are good? Any others?? I would actually like to get out of bedside nursing , if anyone has any recommendations..it would be much appreciated!!!:uhoh3:

Specializes in hospice.

Tampa General is a L1 trauma center and is affiliated with the USF Medical School. They do everything, from sprained ankles to heart transplants. I've heard that the shift diff is insane... like $15/hr, but dont' know for sure. Morton Plant is in Clearwater, part of the BayCare system. Bayfront is in St. Petersburg, L2 trauma center, connected to All Children's Hospital. Plenty of opportunities there.

If you like patient care, but want to get away from the bedside, try LifePath Hospice. They're looking for nurses to see patients in their homes or facilities. There are also two hospice houses (that's where I work.) Pay on days is better than $21.50/hr, but it's bedside nursing. We don't do agressive treatment, but we do provide agressive palliative care.

I think you should work wherever your traveling nurse friend is working!!:nurse:
